A 247,676 sq. ft. train manufacturing facility for Siemens Mobility in Goole. This project included a wide range of buildings including offices, warehouses, manufacturing, and commissioning buildings.

The Work
A F Connell Ltd were employed to undertake the design, install, testing and commissioning of all the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on this project. We provided a full building services design to provide a range of systems including warehouse and office heating systems, ventilation, VRF, BMS controls, gas and water services, HV & LV distribution, internal & external lighting scheme, DATA networks, access control & security systems, fire detection & alarms, fire hydrant systems and CCTV systems.
The project consisted of numerous buildings including a multi storey dedicated office block with state-of-the-art meeting and welfare facilities, train car storage warehouse, materials final assembly building where the final trains where stored and assembled before being sent to the commissioning and trunking buildings (both of which contained full, and half height train pits). The site also included a rain test facility and a large welfare and security gatehouse facilities. During the building Siemens added the Traction Drive facility to the scheme, this was integrated into the existing site wide buildings infrastructure for such services as the BMS, CCTV/security and data site wide fibreoptic networks.
As well as external power and lighting to the numerous building this was also provided to the train line P-Ways area as well as signalling power to facilitate the integration of Siemens new rail lines into the existing Network Rail lines.
